The Project for the New American Century, a Washington DC "think tank" that was formed in 1997, has 19 members that have worked for the Bush administration including such notable warmongers as Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, and Richard Pearle.
The PNAC website begins with the following under its Statement of Principals:
June 3, 1997
American foreign and defense policy is adrift. Conservatives have criticized the incoherent policies of the Clinton Administration.
WTF! American foreign and defense policy is adrift?!...incoherent policies of the Clinton Administration?! Boy, those were some bad Clinton years of nothing but peace, prosperity, containment and diplomacy.
It gets worse...
The PNAC Statement of Principles says:
We seem to have forgotten the essential elements of the Reagan Administration's success: a military that is strong and ready to meet both present and future challenges; a foreign policy that boldly and purposefully promotes American principles abroad; and national leadership that accepts the United States' global responsibilities.
Reagan's greatest legacy was the dismantling of the Soviet Union by being "strong and ready" which was coupled again with containment and diplomacy-also known as "a foreign policy that boldly and purposefully promotes American principles abroad". Conversely, the Bush Administration and it PNAC members have weakened our military by committing them to a needless war. In addition, they have completely disregarded diplomacy. Bush is the anti-Reagan.
The Statement of Principles continues...
Of course, the United States must be prudent in how it exercises its power. But we cannot safely avoid the responsibilities of global leadership or the costs that are associated with its exercise. America has a vital role in maintaining peace and security in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
"Prudent in how it exercises its power"?!! I am so glad we're fighting the Iraqis that committed 9-11!
And the money quote, "America has a vital role in maintaining peace and security in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East." Do these people read this stuff??? Will someone wake up Ellen Bork, the PNAC Executive Director, and read to her this crap.
The PNAC cannot believe this. Rather this is probably a website that has not been updated in sometime, you know, like my 14 year old son's My Space profile after he got dumped by his first girlfriend...too much hurt to even go back and look.
This "think tank" needs to spend a couple hundred dollars and rewrite something that sounds like something Sean Hannity would say like the rest of the other wingnut "think tanks". Just factual enough to pacify the kool-aid drinkers would do.
